A vase, some leaves, nothing clever. Still Life No.1 is the label recording a standard: every studio cuts one eventually, and the test is whether you have anything of your own to say inside it. Ours is said in restraint. Rust against indigo only where the flowers turn, cream doing most of the work. Small forms are the loom's weak point, so each leaf was simplified until it wove true. Chosen by one editor. Redrawn, edge by edge, for the loom.
